MARFIL and ÉBANO are produced by Pokeepsie Films, part of Banijay Iberia, and production is now underway in Madrid.
Prime Video today announced MARFIL and ÉBANO, its upcoming Spanish Original films based on the bestselling Enfrentados duology, comprising the novels Marfil and Ébano.
The film’s star Ester Expósito (Venus) and Hugo Diego García (The Substance) as Marfil and Sebastián, respectively. Production on MARFIL and ÉBANO is now underway in Madrid. The films will be available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide as part of a Prime membership.
Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a powerful Spanish businessman, sees her seemingly perfect life in New York turned upside down when she is suddenly kidnapped and released without explanation. Her father subsequently hires the enigmatic Sebastián Moore as her bodyguard. Forced to spend every minute together, they initially clash over her untamable spirit and his guarded nature, but an undeniable attraction soon develops between them. When they return to Spain and the threats against Marfil intensify, they must navigate a world in which no one is who they claim to be and nothing is what it seems.

The announcement of MARFIL and ÉBANO marks the third collaboration between Prime Video and bestselling author Mercedes Ron, following the adaptations of her popular Culpables trilogy and the Dímelo series. Culpa mía became Prime Video’s most successful non-English-language film of 2023. Just one year later, in 2024, Culpa tuya broke every record to become the most-watched non-English-language Original in Prime Video history. The final installment in the trilogy, Culpa nuestra, will premiere soon, while Dímelo bajito is currently in production.
MARFIL and ÉBANO are produced by Pokeepsie Films, part of Banijay Iberia, whose credits include Veneciafrenia, 30 monedas and El bar. Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang serve as producers, Óscar Pedraza (Patria, Vivir sin permiso) directs, and Sofía Cuenca (Culpa tuya, Culpa nuestra) wrote the screenplay.
